This painting started with an intuitive drawing technique, in which I took pastel with eyes closed and let shape come to mind. I drew... And then interpreted shape and colour. It takes symbols from my celtic heritage, taking back what was stolen and counterfeited, reclaiming authority and healing the bloodline of my ancestors.

The bloodline, our whakapapa, generational history and DNA when aligned with the blood of the Creator is the mauri, the life force that holds everything together.

This is the pouwhenua. The conduit. The vav that brings heaven to earth, that has us standing in two worlds.
Meaning we can stand on our mountain of authority, to set our feet on high places and call down the mystery from above and have it affect the earth. It is a stake in the ground, a balance of grounding and mystery with all the chaos of duality in between.
